About UPC

This is what we do!

What is UPC?

UPC stands for Universal Poets’ Club. It is a unique online publishing club designed to allow poets to sell their work to a membership-exclusive collective, supportive of their work. Anyone is welcome to participate in UPC as a member. If you need time to think about it, you can still support authors and compete for prizes in UPC contests. Please continue reading.

UPC’s Goal

UPC’s goal is to help poets grow through participation in a publishing process supported by their own Membership Alliance (MA). Opportunities include income from UPC Battle for the Bag Poetry Competitions, and 4-Point Omega Pub sponsorships, and guaranteed book sales through UPC MA.

The idea for a “Poets’ Club” began in England in 1908 and was established by English poet, critic and philosopher, Thomas Ernst Hulme. T. H. Hulme, along with renown poets T. S. Elliot and Ezra Pound, was an “Imagist” who suggested “images” are information derived from sensibility without the influence of preconception and language to define them. That is, they occurred spontaneously through our senses and ability to experience emotion and pain, and then we write..

UPC, while having no affiliation with “Poets’ Club” established by T. H. Hulme, seeks a similar outcome for advancement of more modern poets through UPC’s Membership Alliance and 4-Point Omega Publications’ sponsorship and unique publishing concept that will allow members to grow together as poets through the power of poets supporting poets.

How Membership Alliance (MA) Works

MA relies entirely on its members, and the benefit of MA works best by growing its membership. Since UPC is entirely new in the publishers’ club space, and there may still be skepticism amongst “the big six” publishing houses, UPC will launch MA after 100 requests for membership have been received. At 100 requests, members can experience the benefit of membership and MA’s collective-progressive publishing concept,

Cost of UPC Membership

UPC membership is free with no out-of-pocket fees or dues of any kind to join the MA. UPC only asks that MA participants commit to and honor their commitment by purchasing one MA “work on deck” per month for one year when it is posted on the UPC website Service pages.

Getting Started, and the MA Process

First, send an email including your name and address where you want to receive your UPC Membership Card. This is an important first step in the MA process, because MA support depends on your membership and fellow alliance members who will in turn support you as well as other MA fellows. Click here for email addresses, PO-Box Number, and mailing address, and phone number.

NOTE. UPC will retain your name and email address for membership ID verification and award purposes only, so please refrain from submitting any additional personal information.

What’s Next?

The next step is to submit the title of your self-published work with a link to where your work can be purchased. (For example, a link to your Amazon.com sales page or other ONLINE fulfillment clearing house where your title is offered for purchase). UPC will post your title to 1 of 10 Service Decks when it is your book’s turn to become the “work on deck” and receive MA commitment.

Details for submitting your work:

Images must be no less than 1000 pixels (h) x 650 pixels (w).

Note: The next step depends entirely on your honesty, commitment to your Membership Alliance and professional success, and your success depends on your commitment to your MA fellowship.

Commit and Verify

Whenever AMs (Alliance Members) commit to a “work on deck,” they will verify the purchase by sending an email of the TITLE ON DECK and their own MA ID NUMBER either to verified1@universalpoetsclub.org or to verified2@universalpoetsclub.org.

The AM will then receive an email confirmation of their purchase for that 30-day period.

PLEASE DO NOT SUBMIT TITLES INTENDED FOR WORK ON DECK TO V1 AND V2 UPC EMAIL ADDRESSES.

Keeping You Informed

UPC will keep a running count and report to MA the number of VERIFIED PURCHASES, until the minimum commitment of 100 has been met for each 30-day period and the “work on deck.”

DISCLAIMER: Monetizing and selling “work on deck” is strictly the MA fellow’s responsibility. Neither UPC, nor 4-Point Omega Pub., will assume any role in sales of “work on deck” and will never interfere with transactions or disputes between author and buyer or clearing house, of any kind. When UPC posts a “work on deck,” it is strictly for promotional purposes and for keeping UPC’s and 4-Point Omega Pub’s commitment to the UPC/MA fellowship.

Member’s Agreement

By submitting your name and email address to UPC, you are requesting a membership card and agreeing to membership and participation in the MA. As such, you agree to indemnify UPC, 4-Point Omega Publications, Poets’ Club Outlet, and UPC’s founder, and sponsors, where applicable, of any and all liability, as it pertains to commitment sales and purchases, transactions, and disputes implied or expressed or otherwise mentioned in the above paragraph titled, “DISCLAIMER.”

The Role of UPC and 4-Point Omega Pub.

4-Point Omega Publications will provide a platform for UPC membership and MA self-published poets to post and offer their self-published work to MA fellows for commitment purchases and sales support within the MA.

Service Notice

Neither UPC, nor 4-Point Omega Pub, will be responsible for any sales or purchases or lack of same which occurs or fails to occur or involves any dispute or resolution involving any matter that does not originate with UPC or MA or directly involve the MA collective-progressive publishing process and its MA community on this UPC website.

UPC will add your link to a UPC Service deck on this website at http://www.universalpoetsclub.org and inform your MA fellowship that your work is the “work on deck” and MA commitment for the next 30-day period.

Commit to Fellowship

Trust the MA author on deck. “Google” the author if you like but remember that your MA fellows’ and your commitment to support your MA fellowship with a purchase of the “work on deck” is the true essence of collective-progressive publishing and your membership.

4-Point Omega Pub. reserves the right to cancel UPC/MA membership at any time, at its own discretion for cause.

Poets Supporting Poets

In return for your membership and MA commitment, self-publish with the one guarantee to becoming a paid author. Purchase of the “work on deck” is the one and only commitment you are asked to honor and carry out respectfully.

imagine, for example, there are 100 MAs who will commit to your work based solely on their MA commitment to the MA fellowship, and that your obligation to the MA fellowship is one purchase of the “new work on deck” per month.

In any event there isn’t “new work on deck” after your commitment of one purchase has been met for the month, you need not make an additional purchase for that month, unless you wish to support additional authors previously on deck or new work offered on additional Service Decks.

New work on deck” will be published each month and will remain on deck for 30 days or until a minimum of 100 MA commitments have been met for that period.

Currently, there are 10 Service Decks available for posting, with a new deck opening for “work on deck” after Service Deck I receives 100 members. In this scenario, 4-Point Omega Pub. may post “new work on deck” to one of its sister Service Decks. However, the MA commitment minimum of 100 for your work will not decrease, and MA fellows will be directed to your work at the appropriate Service Deck where the minimum 30-day posting and minimum MA commitment to your “work on deck” can be met.

In addition, if there is work on 10 Service Decks at the same time, AMs may choose additional commitments after fulfilling their primary commitment to the “work on deck” for the current month. In this scenario, if you choose, you may also commit and verify months in advance.

This is a UPC/MA incentive to move the collective-progressive publishing process along as swiftly as possible each thirty days, so, if desired, your work can be the next “work on deck” sooner than later.

Service Notice

Commitments to “work on deck” may exceed 100 at any time during the commitment period, depending on the number of members in the MA at the time. Additional purchases of the same work on deck after a “work on deck” period has expired, will not count towards your MA commitment for the coming months, because the MA’s commitment is only to the “work on deck” during the 30-day “work on deck” period determined by 4-Point Omega Pub.

New Members

If you are a new member joining with more than 100 members already in the MA, your obligation is still one purchase of the one “work on deck, with the full support of the MA minimum 100 commitments and any additional support your work might receive from additional MA fellows when your work becomes the “work on deck” and 30-day commitment.

License and Support

4-Point Omega Publications and Universal Poets’ Club are registered with the state of New York. UPC is fully supported by its parent 4-Point Omega Publications.

Leap of Faith.

Now, it’s time to decide if UPC/MA makes perfect sense (or not) for its intents and purposes, while keeping in mind that each member has an equal opportunity to grow as a team member, while doing just a small part to help fellow team members grow with one membership purchase per month, as your one and only MA commitment, as an MA collective-progressive publishing author. Neither 4-Point Omega Publications, nor Universal Poets’ Club are 501(c)3 or other 501(c) organization dependent on tax exemptions to fulfill tax liabilities.

The number of Alliance Members will be posted weekly, so stay connected.
